Alex Lustig’s Tranquil Style Shines On 11-Track Mixtape ‘Fate (B-Sides)’

Following a string of exciting singles, Alex Lustig has finally unveiled his latest project in full, compiling 11 ethereal gems on Fate (B-Sides).

The Toronto-based producer has been carefully crafting a unique and soothing catalog over the past years, while at the same time contributing to projects by some of the industry’s most acclaimed heavy hitters. Alex Lustig’s versatility is unmatched; while his solo catalog has amassed tens of millions of streams, he has worked alongside the likes of Justin Bieber, Gunna, Baka Not Nice, Aminé, PARTYNEXTDOOR and many more. Last year, he landed on five songs off Drake’s Honestly Nevermind, while also becoming Grammy-nominated for his contributions to “N 2 Deep” off Certified Lover Boy.

Fate (B-Sides) compiles everything we love about Alex Lustig’s music; minimalistic percussion, tranquil atmospheres and soothing vocal performances. It’s a warm auditory bed that easily hooks listeners in and takes them on unexpected yet pleasing sonic journeys.

Driven by minimal melodies and subtle dance grooves, “Pulse” kicks off Fate (B-Sides), featuring co-production credits from Wondra30, who connected with Alex Lustig after Honestly Nevermind was released. The connections to the massive album don’t stop there, with “In Vain” alongside Mcevoy and nyan initially created as a demo for Drake before being reworked and released.

While Fate (B-Sides) holds a distinct sonic identity, Alex Lustig manages to combine multiple genres and styles across the tracklist. From the intimate deep house grooves on previously released single “Fade” with Sølv, to the breakbeats aesthetic of “Drift” and the ambient works “Final Fantasy” and “Void,” the project is as diverse as it is immersive.

“‘Fate’ is a project about self love, finding yourself, going through traumas, anxieties, happiness, sadness and all the emotions and experiences we face as humans in our lifetime. Fate is your destiny. As I grow I believe everything I go through has its purpose in my life and personal growth. Its all part of my destiny. This album is inspired by all these thoughts,” explained Alex Lustig in a press statement.
