Rising Producer Austin Marc Takes the Selfless Approach to Music Collaborations

From soothing guitar melodies on tracks like "Tuesday'' and “heaven” to his wide range of production credits for the likes of Tobi Lou, Justine Skye, and Amaria, Austin Marc is one of the most exciting producers in the current hip-hop and R&B scene. The rising producer and DJ built his following with a steady flow of remixes and flips on SoundCloud and his annual edit packs on Bandcamp. Along the way, Austin also captured the attention of Soulection Radio with his tracks being featured over 50 times across the show’s history, as well hosting two takeover sets himself. His talents have also allowed him to shine on stages in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles just to name a few.

Austin spent most of his early life in New Jersey teaching himself guitar and driving around with his dad while listening to everything from Bob Dylan to Dr. Dre and Mase. After becoming especially fascinated by Pharrell and Timbaland, he quickly expanded his horizons with Garageband by trying to reverse-engineer their songs and create his own style. Austin continued his experiments with sampling and music production throughout high school before diving into more collaborations in college.

Co-produced by Austin and Juice Bangers, Tobi Lou’s “Berlin" treats listeners to an overall catchy and upbeat tune that’s easy to keep on repeat, much like their several other collaborations. The call-and-response combo of mellow piano chords and Tobi’s punchy verses creates an experience that embodies the nostalgia and charm of Saturday morning cartoons.

As another one of my favorite tracks with Austin's stellar production, “Lose Control” by Amaria captures the essence of freefalling. The intro to her Bittersweet EP feels like a late night drive with Austin's twinkling production pairing perfectly with Amaria’s angelic vocals. It's equal parts alluring and mesmerizing, further showcasing his versatility as a producer.

“I try to be as selfless as I can when it comes to producing for other artists and pride myself on being able to produce multiple genres. I want to give them the alley-oop to dunk it. They usually have their own world and I try to find how I can add to it,” - Austin Marc

Austin is a prime example of a selfless producer that can shine in both his solo and collaborative efforts. He showcases his prowess by crafting soundscapes that feel truly catered to each artist and it’s been a great pleasure to watch his skillset evolve over the years. With a growing list of accolades under his belt, we’re excited to see what the future holds for Austin in the coming months. Also be sure to check out his upcoming performance at OHP Presents: Dance with Friends in Orlando on November 6.
