Flume Finally Unveils Stunning Third Album, ‘Palaces’

A full 6 years following Flume’s massive sophomore project Skin, which received a Grammy award for Best Dance/Electronic Album and birthed career-defining songs such as “Never Be Like You” alongside Kai and “Smoke & Retribution” featuring KUČKA and Vince Staples, the pioneering producer has finally returned with Palaces. Though projects such as Hi This Is Flume and Quits kept fans excited during the wait since the last project, Palaces arguably marks Flume’s most ambitious project to date, featuring a stunning lineup of collaborators as well as a more than impressive visual narrative.

As a whole, Palaces perfectly displays Flume's artistic progression since the days of Skin, seeing him craft infectious and radio-ready singles while wearing his experimental sensibilities on his sleeve more than ever. Ambitious sound design, mind-bending melodies and distorted drums can be enjoyed all over the record, while listeners are able to experience an assortment of vibrant solo instrumentals in between the star-studded guest lineup’s performances.

Lead singles such as “Say Nothing” featuring indie-pop newcomer MAY-A and “Sirens” alongside mainstay Caroline Polachek did an amazing job at preparing listeners for the sound of the record. Other notable highlights include “Highest Building” alongside Oklou, which kicks off the record and was premiered by Flume during his Coachella performance earlier this year, and “Get U,” which organically transitions from bass-heavy breaks to heavenly melodic sections.
