Following his resurgence with “GEEK OUT!,” a slick collaboration with quickly, quickly and The Breathing Effect which was released last month, Gareth Donkin has just returned with yet another gem.
Kickstarting his brand new creative chapter, the London-based singer, songwriter, and producer signed with drink sum wtr, a new label formed by A&R Nigil Mack in partnership with Ghostly International and Secretly’s newly-minted All Flowers Group.
Gareth Donkin’s second release under the new venture comes in the form of “Whenever,” a passionate and dance-infused R&B anthem that perfectly encapsulates his vintage sonic identity. The song, which also comes alongside a dreamy music video and is infused with the sounds of '70s yacht soul, finds Gareth Donkin finding inspiration in new love and commitment.
The song is centered around a blossoming romance, with Gareth Donkin revealing that it’s about “being present and there for your significant other no matter what.” The artist’s dedication to his craft is evident in his lifelong musical obsession; he was born with perfect pitch and was already a devoted jazz pianist and drummer before the age of 12. By the time he enrolled at Leeds College of Music, he was already writing and recording his own material at home.
