Medasin Breaks 3-Year Hiatus With Dazzling Single, “Star Song”

It has seemingly been ages since Medasin’s sophomore album RIPPLS was released, which coincided with the start of the pandemic, and–subsequently–Medasin’s 3-year hiatus from music releases (excluding an exclusive sound.xyz drop last year and some more unofficial music offerings).

By way of his social media, Medasin has been teasing his third body of work for some time now, occasionally letting his audiences peak through the curtains into his process, which seems to have evolved drastically over these past three years.

Boasting a sonic identity that’s as textured as it is pensive, Medasin has long established himself as a unique figure within the scene, and his forthcoming album is slated to yet again cement him as a trailblazer, while inspiring countless younger producers and musicians in the process.

The first single off Medasin’s imminent third album has now finally arrived in the form of “Star Song,” and it makes for one of his mesmerizing and soothing works to date. Warm ambiances and sparkly melodies introduce the single, before a groovy drum kit and walls of synths help transcend listeners into space. "Star Song" features additional contributions from Naji, who helped with the drums, JK The Sage, who played the keys, and Hailey Niswanger who performs the saxophone throughout the latter half of the track.

"This is one of my personal favorites off the album," said Medasin about the single. "I think this can be a very cathartic & healing & transcendent piece of music if it finds you at the right moment in time."
