quickly, quickly Unveils Psychedelic New Single “Falling Apart Without You” Ahead Of ‘Easy Listening’ EP
quickly, quickly is back in full force, having just unveiled yet another single from his forthcoming Easy Listening EP, slated for release May 26th via iconic label Ghostly International.
The Portland-based musician made his grandiose return last month with “Satellite,” one of his funkiest gems to date which can be interpreted as either a love letter to technology or a tongue-in-cheek song about surveillance. Now, he is further pulling back the curtain on Easy Listening with his “Falling Apart Without You,” which is a campy and softly-psychedelic exploration of the artist’s unique expression.
Ever since his debut album The Long And Short Of It was released two years ago, quickly, quickly focused his energy back to the comforts of home recording, filling his space with friends and an assortment of vintage and oftentimes obscure gear. Easy Listening is the result of these new additions to his creative process; which has become as sophisticated and intricate as ever.
“Falling Apart Without You” started out as a fictional breakup song, which ultimately became a self-fulfilling prophecy. Throughout the single’s three-minute duration, quickly, quickly lets loose smooth keys, theatrical vocal lines and hazy drums, while mangling everything into a cohesive mix via a Teac reel-to-reel tape machine he found on eBay and hooked up to Ableton.
“Falling Apart Without You” makes for yet another stunning showcase of quickly, quickly’s unmatched talent and unique sonic identity, providing a unique window into the artist’s inspiration from 60s psychedelic soul music, which will be fully unveiled throughout with Easy Listening.
quickly, quickly is set to embark on a nationwide tour in support of Quadeca, taking his live band to over a dozen cities across the US.
