Rare Breed Ushers in the Next Generation of Electronic Superstars
Electronic music has undergone an interesting arc these past few decades. The EDM bubble burst and reinvigorated a largely dormant and underground genre. The genre branched out and birthed different scenes in record time. Lucid Monday believes that the next apple is set to drop and become a whole new movement entirely.
Daniel Goudie, founder of Nightmode, amassed a deep amount of talent with the artists of Rare Breed. Since 2021, the electronic collective has taken its artistry and collaboration quite seriously, co-founded by Sam Casucci and Daniel Goudie, with Hope Lansing working as the company's day-to-day manager. Whether they headline festivals and cook up together at artist retreats, their bass music feels fresh and timeless. Here’s a tidbit about each member on their illustrious roster.
PEEKABOO
If this name seems familiar to casual listeners, you’ll recognize his name in the song credits among legends. He recently worked on “Hydrate” with Skrillex, BEAM, and Flowdan, and his last song, “When I’m Gone (feat. XAELO),” was remixed by NGHTMRE. His previous project, SECRECY EP, dropped in 2022 with personal favorites “Evil Lair” and “Sacrament.” The vicious tracks impress with their application of fluctuating bass, eerie atmospheres, and pulsing drums.
ISOxo
It’s been a busy few weeks for trap prodigy ISOxo, who dropped his Nightrealm EP nearly two years ago and finished his 4-stop tour half a year ago. His high-octane, punk aesthetic and sound palette combines with the bass trap house fusion that the Rare Breed ensemble does so well. In addition to his packed past schedule, he has to kick it into second gear. The Instagram has been largely wiped and his debut album KIDSGONEMAD! is rumored to drop on July 21st. Undoubtedly, he’ll be incorporating that into his sets at HARD Summer Music Festival (August 5) and Outside Lands (August 11).
Knock2
Hot off the release of his ROOM202 EP in January, the San Diego-based head has all the momentum and none of the drag. His Los Angeles ROOM202 show is the perfect example of his production and DJing prowess. Every track, transition, and unreleased ID is bound to make the crowd wave back and forth. Done with the US tour, he flies across the Atlantic to take ROOM202 overseas for a European crusade.
Eliminate
Eliminate just released his most recent single, “Mutation,” in late March. The monster build-up lays down the red carpet for a mosaic of head-snapping sound bites. The sequences keep you guessing and never last more than a few seconds. It’s a mind-melting first impression that proves as a fantastic jumping-on-point for the budding bass producer.
Cool Customer
Cool Customer is the newest member of Rare Breed (es. 2023). The neophyte makes his debut headlining event in late August. He carves out his role in the Rare Breed family nicely as his heavy bass sound has a lot of trap/hip-hop influence, which provides a lot of variance to his sound.
What’s next for Rare Breed? Other than their respective projects and live concerts, these talented musicians always have tricks up their sleeves. Their infectious energy is not only felt through digital screens and open ears, but seeing them live is worth more than the ticket price. Get out of the house and into open spaces whenever possible because these artists will pull crowds for years.
