Spotlighting 16-Year-Old Producer Hoops
Music is in the best space right now. The youth is no longer afraid to tap into their musical abilities and start learning the skills necessary to propel them into stardom. Henri Velasco, better known by his producer name “Hoops”, fits right into that category. Playing the mallet, flute, and guitar when he’s in the process of building a sample, Hoops is constantly testing his limits. After heavily watching ‘Genius’ Deconstructed videos, he knew his path in music lay in composing beats and watching his favorite artists join in through collaboration. Inspired by the music eras of the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, as well as taking an interest in Afro-beats and R&B, Hoops’s future as a versatile producer is already looking promising. Watching songs come to life was extremely intriguing to Hoops, so much so that it pushed him to download FL Studio and get to work. He now collaborates with the biggest Hip Hop artists, all while remaining a high school student.
Hoops received his first placement at the young age of 15 with YBN Almighty Jay, a solid start for any producer trying to see success in the music industry. Since his start in music, he’s worked with countless Hip Hop mega-stars like Lil Durk, NoCap, NBA Youngboy, Yungeen Ace, DDG, Soulja Boy, plus more, while also working with established producers Wheezy, OG Parker, Smash David, and Dez Wright. He produced Lil Durk’s “No Interviews” on his latest project 7220, which certified gold in less than 3 months. “Swiping Cards” by NoCap and “Super Bowl” by NBA Youngboy are also some of his highest streaming productions. The future is bright for 16-year-old Hoops. We look forward to seeing him prosper and continue to make waves in the music industry.
