Spotlighting Our Favorite Producers On BROCKHAMPTON’s ‘TM’

Described as a “parting gift for fans,” BROCKHAMPTON’s TM marks the group’s ultimate final release, following The Family, which was unveiled just a day earlier and predominantly featured group leader Kevin Abstract, alongside production from boylife, Ciarán (aka bear face) and Nick Velez. TM, which was executively produced by Matt Champion, involves almost all members of BROCKHAMPTON, alongside a lengthy lineup of emerging and established producers. Here are some of our favorite talents who contributed to the lively sound of the iconic band’s final record.

Grant Lapointe

Production credits on “FMG,” “KEEP IT SOUTHERN,” “MAN ON THE MOON” and “CRUCIFY ME”

A classically trained musician, Grant Lapointe has been playing the piano since he was three years old, and always knew he wanted to be involved in music. Fuelled by his jazz, neo-soul and R&B influences, he started producing three years ago, and quickly achieved success with his collaborations alongside the likes of Nic D and Rich. He cites BROCKHAMPTON as one of his all around favorite acts, and ended up playing piano and synthesizers on four songs off TM after connecting with band member Kiko in Los Angeles earlier this year.

The Kount

Production credits on “DUCT TAPE”

Having become infamous for his viral production videos and highly-acclaimed sample packs, The Kount has undoubtedly cemented himself as one of the producer scene’s most celebrated talents. The most recent addition to his lengthy discography marked Vignette, a joint project with fellow trailblazer Kaelin Ellis, while he has collaborated with CARRTOONS, Verzache, Otxhello, Marc Rebillet, Moods and more over the past year.

B. Lewis

Production credits on “ANIMAL”

Over the latter half of the past decade, B. Lewis became widely known as a solo artist for his unique and funky takes on various electronic music styles, boasting a lengthy discography of solo works and collaborations. He has worked alongside the likes of GoldLink, Jazz Cartier, KRANE, Rico Nasty, Bas, Lil Durk, Anna Wise and more.

Goldwash

Production credits on “ANIMAL”

Having kicked off his solo career as an artist back in 2016, Goldwash has taken off with his intricate take on indie, alongside multiple other genres and styles. The multi-faceted artist and producer worked on “ANIMAL” off TM alongside Romil Hemnani, B. Lewis, Jabari Manwa, Baird and William Van Zandt, while having just unveiled his collaborative alias with Baird, The South Hill Experiment. Goldwash was involved in 5 songs off BROCKHAMPTON’s ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE, while having also contributed to songs for the likes of Roddy Ricch and Whethan.

The full list of producers who contributed to TM includes Alex Goose, Baird, B. Lewis, Coop The Truth, Dom McLennon, Dutra, Dylan Neustadter, Goldwash, Grant Lapointe, Jabari Manwa, Joba, John DeBold, Jonah Abraham, Kiko Merley, The Kount, Matt Champion, Merlyn Wood, Romil Hemnani, Solomonophonic, Wesley Allen and William Van Zandt.
