Spotlighting Our Favorite Producers On Omar Apollo's ‘Ivory’

Omar Apollo’s long-awaited debut album Ivory has finally arrived, and it’s safe to say that it lives up to the hype. Opting for a more organic sound in comparison to his previous projects, Ivory spans over 16 tracks, and sees the Mexican-American singer, songwriter and producer portray his most vulnerable self to date, while enlisting a stacked lineup of legendary producers to tackle the album’s sonics. Here are our favorite producers who worked on crafting the timeless sound of Ivory, other than Omar Apollo himself, who is credited as a producer on all but one track off the project.

Mike Hector

Production credits on “Killing Me”

Mike Hector is a Grammy Award-winning producer, with production credits on Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN., which won in the Best Rap Album category at the 2018 Grammy Awards. He just landed one of his co-productions on Vince StaplesRAMONA PARK BROKE MY HEART, and has worked with artists such as SiR, Doja Cat, Frank Ocean, Wale and many more.

Noah Goldstein

Production credits on “Talk,” Waiting on You,” “Petrified” and “Personally”

Taking on the project’s most acoustic and guitar-heavy tracks, Noah Goldstein did an incredible job with his co-productions, allowing Omar Apollo’s voice to nicely shine on top of his intimate instrumentals. Noah Goldstein is most widely known as being Kanye West’s main audio engineer, having worked with him as early as his collaborative album with Jay-Z, Watch The Throne.

Carter Lang

Carter Lang co-produced Doja Cat and SZA’s “Kiss Me More,” which just received a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. He is best known for his production on SZA’s breakout album Ctrl, and has worked extensively with the singer and songwriter ever since, as well as producing for the likes of Post Malone, Rihanna, Mac Miller, Camila Cabello and many more.

Teo Halm

Production credits on “Evergreen” and “Bad Life”

Teo Halm co-produced Omar Apollo’s 2018 single “Today,” and actually started out as an actor within the entertainment industry, before falling in love with music production. At age 20, he received a Grammy Award for his work on ROSALÍA and J Balvin's "Con Altura" (Best Urban Song), and has produced for the likes of Baby Keem, Troye Sivan, 070 Shake and FKA twigs.
