Spotlighting Our Favorite Producers On Travis Scott’s ‘UTOPIA’

Almost exactly five years following the release of Astroworld, Travis Scott has finally unveiled his 4th studio album UTOPIA in full. Spanning 19 tracks and almost 75 minutes in length, UTOPIA is a visceral and eerie sonic journey, full of vocal features that are as impressive as the album’s colossal lineup of contributing producers. Here are some of our favorite sonic architects that contributed to the explosive yet intricate sound of the album.

Wondagurl

One of her generation’s leading producers, Wondagurl is signed to Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack, and spotlights some of the most exciting rising producers by way of her Wonderchild imprint, which was launched in mid-2021. She has extensively worked with Travis Scott throughout her career, most notably co-producing singles such as “Antidote,” “CAN’T SAY” and “90210.” She has also contributed to records from the likes of Drake, Rihanna, Don Toliver, Lil Uzi Vert, Quavo and many more.

Jahaan Sweet

A truly diverse producer and songwriter, Jahaan Sweet has worked with everyone from Drake and Kendrick Lamar to Kali Uchis and Taylor Swift. The first time he and Travis Scott crossed paths was when Jahaan Sweet co-produced “Fair Trade” off Drake’s Certified Lover Boy album. He then went on to contribute to Travis Scott’s single “MAFIA,” and became one of the most featured producers on UTOPIA almost two years later.

BNYX

BNYX might arguably be the fastest-rising producer within hip-hop at the moment. Known for his extensive work for Yeat, which includes dozens of pioneering productions, he recently landed on Drake’s “Search & Rescue” single, while being enlisted to executively produce and remake multiple songs for Drake’s recent arena shows alongside 40.

Nami

Nami is one of the most multi-faceted producers and creatives currently rising within the music industry. From his celebrated Maison Ondas brand to his unique sound packs, Nami is a creative force to be reckoned with. He has worked alongside a diverse list of artists, from Jack Harlow, Lil Yachty and Vince Staples to Sam Smith and Ariana Grande.

Noah Goldstein

Producer and engineer Noah Goldstein’s career has spanned across over 10 years at this point. Alongside Anthony Kilhoffer, Noah Goldstein served as the main audio engineer for Kanye West and Jay-Z’s iconic Watch The Throne album, while heavily collaborating with West on a number of other projects. He has also worked with the likes of Future, The Weeknd, Yves Tumor, Omar Apollo, and Tyler, the Creator.

Buddy Ross

Buddy Ross is best known as one of Frank Ocean’s closest producers throughout the years, heavily contributing to his highly-praised Blonde album. A producer, keyboardist, songwriter, engineer and mixer, Buddy Ross has also contributed to projects by the likes of Bon Iver, Vampire Weekend, Troye Sivan, HAIM and more.

Vegyn

Production credits on “MY EYES” and “PARASAIL”

The first time Vegyn collaborated with Travis Scott was back in 2018, when he co-produced “ASTROTHUNDER” off ASTROWORLD. Based in London, he has extensively worked with Frank Ocean, most notably co-producing “Nights” alongside Michael Uzowuru and Buddy Ross. He has also built an extensive catalog as a solo artist, with his debut album dating back to 2014,

Boi-1da
