Spotlighting The Producers On BROCKHAMPTON’s ‘The Family’
Announced earlier this year at Coachella, during their last billed festival performance, BROCKHAMPTON’s last album is here, with band leader Kevin Abstract completing the iconic group’s journey on a bittersweet note. Tying up most loose ends within the BROCKHAMPTON saga, The Family finds the multitalented artist taking on sample-heavy, impactful instrumentals by Ciarán (aka bearface), boylife and Nick Velez.

Ciarán (more commonly known as bearface) executively produced The Family alongside boylife, landing on roughly half the album as a producer. A member of BROCKHAMPTON since the group’s very early days, Ciarán is a guitarist, producer, singer and songwriter. The Northern Irish artist shared his debut collection of beats, Beat_Tape, back in 2012, and went on your with The 1975 back in 2013 ahead of their debut album’s release.

boylife made his solo debut last year with gelato, a hazy and mesmerizing of multiple sounds and styles across 12 tracks. While he launched his discography as boylife back in 2020, he has been the lead vocalist for alt-R&B duo Common Souls since 2016, while also singing in indie band mmonika.

boylife’s other half in Common Souls, Nick Velez arguably is the talented artist’s closest collaborator. He is credited as a producer and songwriter on every song off gelato, while having landed as a producer on two tracks off BROCKHAMPTON’s 2021 album, ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE.
