Stwo Makes Grandiose Return With Visceral, 5-Track EP, ‘Prove’
From his contributions to projects by the likes of Drake and 6LACK , to his extensive work with French artist Lomepal, and his own haunting discography, Stwo has long cemented himself as one of the industry’s most eclectic names.
The enigmatic producer launched his career on SoundCloud a decade ago with a barrage of originals and remixes, showcasing a pensive sound that fused R&B and hip-hop with subtle electronic elements, capturing the attention of millions in the process. Now, following a string of teaser singles, the pioneering producer has unveiled his new EP Prove in full, which marks his return from a hiatus of almost four years.
Out via Ultra Records, Prove is a masterful showcase of Stwo’s inventive sound. Drawing from the mesmerizing sounds that fuelled the producer’s monumental rise over the past ten years, and combining them with new and exciting stylistic choices, Prove is a truly hypnotic project.
Previously released single “Go Back” kicks off the EP, juxtaposing soothing ambiances and gritty bass stabs for a result that immediately transcends listeners into another dimension. The warm synth beds on “Glimpse” nicely complement its organic grooves, while title track “Prove” captures an intimate atmosphere with its smooth guitar arps and pitch-shifted samples. The subtle dance patterns on “Look Up” are truly immersive, while “TRN” wraps up the project on a light note as its electronic sound design evolves into a euphoric climax.
