UK Trailblazer Pocket Stuns In Eclectic Debut EP, ‘Love Disc’
Following a string of exciting singles, as well as support slots for the likes of Porter Robinson and Fred again.., Pocket is cementing himself as a name to watch within dance music with his debut EP, Love Disc.
Out via Helix Records, the 6-track stunner perfectly showcases the Edinburgh-raised producer’s knack for combining elements pop, house, and UK garage, creating a lush yet highly-textured dance music experience.
A fresh and highly-stylized project, Love Disc features previously released singles “U” alongside BRONZE AVERY and “Evergreen” with KLOE, stunning cuts that are driven by infectious vocal lines, lively production and groovy drum patterns. While emblematic of Rocket’s unique sound, these singles offer only a glimpse into the project, which ebbs and flows throughout a number of satisfying and dancefloor-ready instrumental cuts.
Arguably the smoothest tune of the bunch, “80HD” kicks off Love Disc with its heavenly melodies and vocal samples, before “Crying at Supermac’s” and “Give Yourself to Somebody” continue the sonic journey with elements of classic UK garage and dance music. Ending the EP on an anthemic note, “Wait For Me” is a mesmerizing piece of dance music, busting with bright summer energy and hopeful melodies.

“Love Disc was an exercise in what melodies, sounds and textures make me feel closest to the people in my life. The initial demos came at a time in my life when there were a lot of changes happening regarding my emotional strength and application to my career. I’m a firm believer that inspiration comes from your close, romantic, or most specifically platonic relationships. You can have the craziest experiences but the creative drive to turn them into something comes from the people you’ve surrounded yourself within the process. Love Disc represents this. I’ve never been one to default to lyricism and songwriting as catharsis so i used this record as a way to find a middle ground in exploring how I can reach that catharsis through what speaks to me sonically and melodically. I’m a very sensitive person, so finding that outlet was very important to me, and classically I’ve always found this emotionally safe space through my friends and loved ones, not songwriting,” said Pocket.
Pocket’s rise within electronic music has been nothing short of impressive. He was named one of the top 25 artists to watch in 2022 by Mixmag, while he has received playlist support from Flume, DJ Seinfeld, and Salute, as well as been enlisted to remix Charli XCX’s “Beg For You.”
