Who Is Andrew Luce?

Looking at the production credits on iann dior’s latest album on to better things, which was just released courtesy of 10k Projects, it’s impossible not to stumble on Andrew Luce’s name. Signed to Electric Feel, the young producer has been working with so many more talents other than the 22-year-old rapper lately, yet hides an intense and interesting story leading up to this point.

Having just turned 24, Andrew Luce has been releasing music for more than 8 years now, and was able to create an impressive career for himself within electronic music, before deciding to take a step back and focus on producing for artists behind the scenes. Things initially kicked off for Andrew Luce back in 2014, when he started sharing a series of remixes that would go on to become viral SoundCloud hits, having amassed almost 20 million collective plays on the platform to date. Taking influences from trap and future bass, Andrew Luce’s sound would go on to dominate the underground over the next years, earning him collaborations with the likes of Juelz, Chelsea Cutler, Yultron, MYRNE, Vincent and many more, as well as leading to the co-creation of his artist collective Daruma.

Daruma, which has been inactive since 2018, released much of Andrew Luce’s music over the next years, before his signed his EP Lanterns to A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold imprint in 2018, which marked his last and most ambitious project as a solo artist to date, including vocal performances from the likes of Smokepurrp, Teddy, Sophie Meiers and more. Here, it would be good to note that almost all of Andrew Luce’s releases as a solo artist have been taken down from digital platforms, yet can still be found on SoundCloud.

Andrew Luce had expressed his desire to produce for other artists in 2018, starting to work alongside the likes of GARZI and Indica, yet 2019 would really be the year when he would truly realize where he wants to take his career long-term, and come into his own as a producer behind the scenes. Kicking off that year by touring with Louis The Child in Europe as a solo artist, and ending it by signing a publishing deal with Electric Feel, displayed Andrew Luce’s progression, and set him up for the incredible success he’s had till this day.

Having found himself at the same home with recordings artists such as Post Malone, 24kGoldn and iann dior, as well as producers such as Nick Mira, Omer Fedi, Teo Halm, Westen Weiss and many more, Andrew Luce would attend session after session, and ultimately become a Grammy-nominated producer late last year, for his work on Lil Nas X’s “Sun Goes Down” off his debut album MONTERO.

Always one to explore new genres and sounds, Andrew Luce’s versatility shines while browsing through his production credits over the past two years. His work on ballads like “Alive” by Audrey Mika carries incredible musicality, while his ear for pop and indie has resulted in hits such as Christian French’s “head first,” Role Model’s “blind” and even Two Feet’s “Fire.”

Whether he receives the Grammy Award this April or not, we’re sure Andrew Luce will continue lending his production talents to all these amazing artists this year, and only grow further, since it’s safe to say that he has definitely found his footing and calling within the industry.
