Yaeji Shares Electrifying New Single “For Granted” And Announces Debut Album
Following a brand-new single and a set of massive announcements, it looks like 2023 will be a colossal year for Yaeji.
The charismatic singer, songwriter and producer’s trajectory over the past couple of years has been nothing short of impressive, with her breakout 2017 single “Raingurl” combining a nonchalant vocal delivery with hypnotic house beats, and captivating a large audience across the globe.
Following impressive critical acclaim, as well as her debut mixtape What We Drew 우리가 그려왔던, which was released back in 2020 via XL Recordings, Yaeji is now ready to unveil her biggest project to date. The Korean-American artist just unveiled her latest single “For Granted,” which will appear on her debut album With a Hammer, slated for release April 7th.
With a Hammer will feature collaborations with British artist Loraine James, Baltimore talent Nourished By Time and New York producers K Wata and Enayet, and “For Granted” couldn’t have made for a better introduction to Yaeji’s colorful new world. Coming alongside a playful, self-directed music video, the single nicely puts Yaeji’s creative and production prowess on display.
Driven by bouncy chords and intricate drum grooves, “For Granted” juxtaposes its beautiful sonics with introspective lyrics from Yaeji, before it explodes into a fierce yet mesmerizing drum & bass break towards the end.
